How to play
Football Connections gives you 16 footballers and asks you to divide them into four groups of four. Every group shares one hidden football connection, which might be a club, manager, teammate, nationality, league or major achievement. The obvious names are often deliberately mixed with players who could distract you, so solving the cleanest group first is usually the best route through the board.

Select exactly four names and submit them. A correct set locks into a colored row and reveals its category. A wrong set costs one mistake; if three selected players belong to the same unsolved group, the game says one away without identifying the odd player. You also get one free direct hint that reveals an unsolved category, and it opens automatically after two mistakes if you have not used it. Find all four categories before your four mistakes are gone.
Scan all 16 names before selecting anything and identify the most concrete shared fact. Tap four footballers who you believe share that connection. Submit the group; correct names lock together while a wrong attempt costs one mistake. Use the free hint when a category is genuinely stuck, or let it open automatically after two mistakes. Use a one-away message carefully: three names fit, but one must be exchanged. Repeat until the yellow, green, blue and purple groups are complete.
Begin with a specific club, country or trophy rather than a broad idea such as forwards or famous players. A player may look suitable for several themes, but every generated board is checked so its 16 names have one intended four-group solution. After solving one group, reread the remaining 12 names from scratch; removed distractors often make the next category obvious. Manager and teammate groups are usually harder than nationality or club groups, so leave uncertain relationship clues until later. Use Shuffle when the current order makes you see false patterns. It changes the layout, not the solution.
Football Connections is a daily grouping puzzle where 16 footballers must be sorted into four hidden categories of four players each.
One away means three of the four footballers you selected belong to the same unsolved group. One selected name must be replaced, but the game does not reveal which one.
The hint reveals the title of one unsolved category directly, such as a club, nation, manager or teammate link. It does not reveal the four players.
Football knowledge can create accidental associations, so the generator checks the selected player pool against all four categories and only publishes boards with one intended solution.
