How to play
Football Wordle is a footballer-guessing game in the style of Wordle. There is a hidden player each day and you have six tries to work out their surname. You type footballer surnames with the same number of letters as the answer, and the tiles turn green (right letter, right spot) or yellow (right letter, wrong spot) to guide you in.

Every guess must be a real footballer's surname of the correct length. After each guess the letters are colour-coded exactly like Wordle: green for a correct letter in the correct position, yellow for a correct letter in the wrong position, and grey for letters not in the answer. Use those clues to narrow down the player within six attempts.
Note the length of the answer (the number of empty letter tiles). Enter a real footballer surname with that exact number of letters as your opening guess. Read the colours: green letters are locked in place, yellow letters belong elsewhere, grey letters are out. Choose your next surname to test new letters while keeping the green letters in place. Repeat until you reveal the surname, within six guesses.
Open with a surname that uses common football letters (vowels plus R, S, N, L) to expose the answer quickly. Once you have green letters, brainstorm well-known surnames that keep them in the same positions. Yellow letters are powerful — you know the letter is in the word, so try it in a different slot. There are league and nation editions; the pool is narrower there, which can make guessing faster.
